With it fitted on the bike I took it out for a spin primarily to verify the speed, distance with my existing comp and to check the altimeter against some known altitudes. I set the altimeter at home knowing it was around 260 meters above sea level before setting off. See the route I followed on veloroutes.org
30 minutes later and I arrived at the high point of the route and that of the Charente. One of the features of the comp is it tells you the percentage gradient of the climb or descent your riding along, something I’ve always struggled to gauge! OK so it does not make you a better cyclist but does distract you from the pain of climbing itself!
Following this a 9km desent to Montbron before rising again to Chatain-Besson the second check point of the route.
Well the overall performance of the new toy was good, which was more than I can say for me!!
